W6 PROJECT #3 2/2: Part 2 Video Has Been Complete!!

Here is the link to the video: Youtube

I used the prompt: Catalogue / Archive – collecting, listing, indexing, seriality, or accumulation over time

I used a Canon Point and Shoot for the footage, and iMovie to edit. All videos were taken over the span of a week, and are mostly in chronological order (so I can vary the length of the clip--but all the videos were at least only a few moments apart).

Unfortunately I'm sick and won't be in class to hold you guys hostage to learn about my week. It was quite busy. I attended the NASH 88 Student Journalism conference with the Meliorist in Vancouver, visited my aunt, studied neuroscience, saw my dad give a presentation to the Lethbridge Photography Club, and watched Lego Batman more than the healthy amount.

This fits the prompt because it is both collecting, listing, seriality, and accumulation over time.

I edited everything to music and cut the clips when I felt I got "bored" of them or to time them with the music. Hopefully this makes a 10 minute video more digestible.

I aim to add a more coherent description when I am more coherent. My brain is full of cotton and my back hurts from coughing, which as you can imagine, isn't the best setting for writing.

W6 PROJECT #3 1.5/2: Away From Home But Working on Things!!

Hello all. I'm keeping this short so I have time to wander IKEA.

I've been at a conference in Vancouver for the past few days as a part of the Meliorist. NASH 88, it's at Capillano University! It's beautiful here. I extended my trip to visit my aunt who lives out here, and I come home on Wednesday. I've gotten to see the Vancouver Art Gallery, had a really good hot chocolate and met cool people. I got to go on a train!!!! So awesome.

Anyways, because I won't have a ton of time to film, I decided to work with the prompt "archive" and collect a few 5-10s clips on an old point-and-shoot camera of my trip. I won't attach photos for now--keeping you guys in suspense.

Enjoy reading week!!

W5 PROJECT #3 1/2: Video Arts

1-3 (Light, Colour, Frame): ART2060 Project 3 1-3.mp4

4 (All shots): ART2060 Project 3 4.mp4

Hello again!

Here's the breakdown of each of the shots. Most of these were taken in my room/house. I don't know how it keeps happening, but everyone taking classes with me is getting to know my room quite well through all these assignments.

1. Light: I used an overhead IKEA moveable desk light for this, placed it just out of frame to highlight the steam from the mug

2. Colour: This is a shot of my favourite lamp!

3. Frame: Composition one of my favourite things to play around with, so there was a lot of indecision as to what I would do. This is a shot of one of my shelves. I chose to put the ceramic bird in the corner of the golden ratio.

4. Camera Shots:

4a. Zoom: I pestered my brother while he was playing video games.

4b. Pan: I used a tripod for this one! This is my "study" area of my room.

4c. Track: This is my worm on a string scarf. I put my camera on a stool, had my dad pull a string and followed the worm on a string. This was quite tricky to do honestly.

4d. Tilt: I'm a big fan of the dutch angle! Wasn't fully sure what to do, but fortunately I could do yet another shot of my room.

4e. Focus Shift: You might recognize the earrings! And yes, I still have my dinosaur figurines from kindergarten.

4f. Close-up: This is a jewelry box I got in Madeira Portugal.

4g. Wide Shot: This is of my parents bedroom, with the vanity desk and mirror in the center.

I used my own camera for this. It's a EOS Rebel T2i, so it's similar or the same as the universities.

W4 DISCUSSION: Twisted My Ankle But Got Cool Photos!!

Here are some photos I took at yesterdays protest! Twisted my ankle on the stairs at lunch time and thought it would be a great idea to run up 3 flights of stairs to get a good photos. Oops.

Worth it!

Thank you Leigh for letting me borrow your camera!!

W3 PROJECT #2: Video

Here is a link to the video portion of this project:

ART2060 Project #2

In short, we all took 10-20s snippets throughout the same day. This was edited together chronologically--it's a day in a life, but it's a day in all of our lives together.  My group members include Martin, Christina, and Leigh. We met up twice over the past week (I'm sure you'll see some footage of us locked in doing the silliest things imaginable on the other blogs...), once to discuss our plan for the foley + what we needed to bring, and once on Saturday to rehearse.

Been a super long weekend. Keeping this short (as what is probably a welcome break from my previous posts) because I am cozy in bed BUT I will add a better write up eventually.

Hope you all enjoy!
